How TL-IQ Journal Handles Reader Messages and Contributed Material

A plain-language account of what happens to a message sent through the contact form, how build logs and photos are treated, and where the journal stands on reviews and corrections.

What the contact form collects

The only form on this site sits on the contact page. It asks for your name, your email address, where your workshop is, what kind of setup you run, what the submission is about, and the notes themselves. A checkbox lets you say whether you can supply photos of the bench or the finished part.

When you send it, the handler records the submitted values together with the submission time, the form identifier, the page language and the source query string from the page you arrived on. That record is written locally to /private/submissions.jsonl on the server.

No account, no stored profile

There is no login, no account and no profile on this site, so a message is never attached to a user record. Nothing is kept in a cart, a booking or a subscription list, because none of those functions exist here.

The thanks page you see after sending confirms technical receipt by the handler only. It does not mean the message has reached an inbox, and it does not promise a reply within any particular time.

Build logs and photos you send in

Material sent to the journal is treated as a submission for possible editorial use. Send only what you have the right to share, and only photos you took or have permission to pass on. If a build log runs, it is edited for length and clarity, and the bench notes stay as you wrote them.

Reviews and editorial independence

Tool notes and reviews are written by hobbyists and one retired toolmaker. The journal does not accept payment for a positive review and does not run sponsored placements. When a tool disappointed, that goes in the post alongside the parts that worked.

Corrections are welcome. When something in a post is wrong, the fix is made in the relevant post rather than buried elsewhere.

Your rights over what you sent

You can ask to see the record of your submission, ask for it to be corrected, ask for a copy in a portable form, or ask for it to be deleted. You can also withdraw consent for editorial use of a build log or photo at any point.

There is no automatic deletion schedule. Records stay in the local submission log until the site owner removes them by hand. If you are in the EU or in California, the same access, deletion, correction, portability and opt-out requests apply to you.

What this journal does not claim

No misleading claims, no invented urgency, no fake endorsements and no borrowed brand names. Nothing here suggests an official affiliation or a guaranteed result from following a post. Where a technique depends on your machine, your material or your measuring gear, the post says so.
